Inktober Saga Day 21

Hello everyone! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Furious”. I had a bit of fun with this one!

Day 21 Furious Furious Chase

Furious Chase: Looks like someone’s mother has lost their bite…

I saw today’s word as an opportunity to conclude a silly mini story I’ve been silently doing through my entries. This has some humour in it and includes a vengeful piranha and a somewhat less than innocent dim witted kingfisher.

This is based on two past entries for Day 4, and Day 13 of this challenge. The titles of the entries are called “Kingfisher Shidazzle” and “Different Barrel Of Fish” respectively. You can see them through these links:

Day 4:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/114481352387700669506/posts/cga8L3Wsntq

Day 13:
https://plus.google.com/u/0/114481352387700669506/posts/7PokxVdgipe

For translation and clarity, the text in the artwork says:”OI!! GET BACK HERE!” Said the piranha softly… “You OWE me my money AND my mother’s missing dentures!”

This was done in pen and wash using my Uni Ball Air pen and some acrylic ink, a Posca pen was also used for highlights. It’s unusual that I would colour something “furious” with calming colours, but I did it as an experiment. I do hope that you get the humour!

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 21 Furious

B2TL Day 21.

To prevent early spoilers, please find the description of the episode below.

In this episode, The pair run for the harbour, now aware of how serious the situation is. Dagger has a memory of how he first met Boundhund, triggered by the sight of the little girl pup in the photo. As the two run through the streets of Doublet, we see that they are being watched… again…

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “They knew the situation was bad, but not as bad as the photos depicted. FURIOUS, they run through the streets of Doublet hunting for the harbour. Thinking of the photos reminded Dagger about how he first met Boundhund. He remembers rescuing Boundhund from the clutches of Poison after he killed both of Boundhund’s parents. All the while, neither of them know that they’re being watched again…”

Gosh I’m exhausted… but now we come to a small second weakness of mine that I especially draw bad when I’m tired like this – Buildings. Don’t worry, some of the simplicity here is deliberate because I want the focus to be on our heroes, for more important buildings, or for certain focuses, I intend to increase detail.

I’m off for now, but I do hope I’ve done this episode justice. As usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Trail”!

Inktober Saga Day 20

Hello everyone! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Deep”. This one is ok…

Day 20 Deep Deep Trouble

Deep Trouble: A monster trying to get out of a hole.

I have gone back to using a sheet of natural tan coloured paper for this one… With this entry, I wanted to do something simple and fun with a tiny bit of a clever twist, and with the word “deep”, what better way to do this than to do something slightly anamorphic!

Done using liners, a brown pigment marker, and a Posca pen for highlights, I really wanted the situation to look and feel real. I don’t think it’s perfectly done because of some unintentional pen marks, but I hope it does come across how I intend.

By the way, For translation and clarity, the monster is shouting “Help!”

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 20 Deep

B2TL Day 20.

To prevent early spoilers, please find the description of the episode below.

In this episode, The two have one more gangster to eliminate before they can move on. However, he stands and laughs whilst fanning himself with 3 photographs. He throws them on the floor and they turn out to be rather nasty. Our heroes now know that their friends are in danger, that Boundhund’s baby wolf pup exists, and that the mother, Boundhund’s special partner, was brutally murdered. Boundhund turns ferral and mauls the gangster to death.

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “They had nearly defeated the hoard, but there was one more gangster to finish. Strangely, though badly hurt, he was giggling whilst waving something in his face. He threw what turned out to be 3 photographs on the ground. The first one showed Dagger and Boundhund’s friends held up as hostages. The second was of a new mother wolf being murdered after giving birth. The third showed a she-wolf pup being held in Graceful Sophie’s hands. Boundhund winced. Though he cannot speak like a human can, he knew very well what all this meant. It cut him DEEP… He leaped without pause and mauled the thug to death.”

I’ve finished this earlier than usual! Sorry for the bulk of text, and if you need to ask questions, feel free to comment. Cheers!

As usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Furious”!

Inktober Saga Day 19

Hello as always! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Cloud”. I didn’t do too badly with this one.

Day 19 Cloud Stairway To The Clouds

Stairway To The Clouds: It’s quite a literal piece.

With this, I really wanted to make up for my embarrassment from yesterday. This word was a bit iffy for me, but then I remembered the steps I did from yesterday, and thought I would try again to get them right today.

I can be a very stubborn and strict, especially when I feel that something needs to be put right, and so, I used today’s word to try and correct what I did.

I did this using a 0.8 liner, some Paynes gray and purple opaque acrylic ink, and a Posca pen for highlights. Are the stairs perfect in my opinion? Gosh no… I don’t like the strong blacks in the shading for a start and they also go a bit wonky on the second bend… but it’s a tiny improvement. I can similarly say the clouds aren’t perfect either, but at least I gave it a go.

What I need to remember is that I’m working a hectic schedule… I need to stop treating Inktober like boot camp (even though it feels like it now) and start treating it with a fresh mindset. I need to shake off the frustration and gain some inspiration again!

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 19 Cloud

B2TL Day 19.

To prevent early spoilers, please find the description of the episode below.

In this episode, The viewpoint goes back to Dagger and Boundhund as they continue their journey. They’re currently fighting through another ambush on their way to Doublet City.

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “They just keep coming… The enemies are ever on the attack… But every CLOUD has a silver lining. Dagger and Boundhund fight hard as they get closer to their goal.”

Hello all. Tonight is another late one, but earlier than the past 2 days, which is nice… I’m slightly worried that the shading in this one is too light… however, too much time spent on doing that would only tire me out more… so I have chosen to upload this episode like this. I do hope the quality of this is still alright.

I’m also slightly panicking as each word I come across now is getting harder and harder to incorporate into my writing, but I’m trying the hardest I can.

As usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Deep”!

Inktober Saga Day 18

Hello as always! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Filthy”. I had a very bad day with this entry…

Day 18 Filthy The Tramp's Welcome

The Tramp’s Welcome: This turned out to be a failure…

I’m a bit ashamed to be uploading this if I’m honest… it went horribly wrong for how I viewed this concept in my mind. There was huge potential for today’s word, but unfortunately, my stamina let me down. I stupidly decided not to have a power nap as I usually do, so I feel a hell of a lot more tired than usual… and it shows in this piece.

I drew this with liners mainly (but I decided to draw with that particular medium at the very last minute). I really regret using liners… I don’t think they were appropriate here.

Why am I ashamed? Well…I particularly wanted to focus on a weakness I’ve noticed in that I can’t draw shoes very well. My main focus was to draw his shoes accurately, but then I messed up on drawing the steps! It’s completely my fault for making such a school girl error, but the steps are uneven and inconsistent… very shameful for me.

The concept of this is that this tramp is down on his luck. He’s beckoning the viewer to come and sit on the grubby stool in this image. I wanted to show how filthy he is, but also, that he has innocent intentions. After all, any one of us can end up in this situation at any point… people who are in this situation are human after all, even if they’re quite unkempt.

Now for my own lesson: The moral of this story is that I need to take my naps when I need them, lest I make stupid mistakes.

Though I would like to thank those who stop by, and especially to those who read my reviews of my own work, even if they can be lengthy… I really do appreciate it.

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 18 Filthy

B2TL Day 18.

To prevent early spoilers, please find the description of the episode below.

In this episode, Poison has his planned meeting with members of his gang. They gather around and learn that they are to try and take over Doublet’s Parliament Building once they reach the harbour. A grand ambition indeed because if they succeed, They pretty much can’t be touched. The question is… can they do it?

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “After calming down and returning to his quarters, the meeting begins. Poison calls his gang forward to discuss what will happen after they reach the harbour. He has a master plan to take over Doublet’s Parliament Building. Capturing such a powerful Building would give him more power, leaving others with no choice but to surrender to him. First… THE LINER! Now… PARLIAMENT! and then, THE WORLD!! …But what about Dagger and Boundhund? Well, Poison has a very special and FILTHY plan made especially for them…”

Today has just been a very bad day for me… So much so, that I almost didn’t have enough energy to carry B2TL on. I nearly gave up, but I managed to do it! I just need to rest now. The sooner today is forgotten about the better.

As usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Cloud”!

Inktober Saga Day 17

Hello as always! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Graceful”. I was a bit naughty with this one because I took too much time.

Day 17 Graceful Moggy's Freerun

Moggy’s Freerun: A humanoid cat doing parkour stunts midair.

I have to say it again… I hate myself for doing this… I knew this would take time – time I don’t have. Conclusively as a result, I’ve uploaded this far later than I would do a normal entry and I know I still have more work to do yet… however, I wanted to take yet another risk and have some fun.

There isn’t much meaning behind this, I want the drawing to speak for itself. It’s just a bit of fun with perspective and playing with the word “graceful” in a way that I would like.

This was done using different liners and markers. Granted for sure, this isn’t clean… this isn’t neat… and this certainly isn’t perfect, but what in Inktober is? I’m not ashamed to trip over myself here.

As usual, I do hope you like today’s entry and I sincerely thank those that take the effort and time to stop by.

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 17 Graceful

B2TL Day 17.

To prevent early spoilers, please find the description of the episode below.

In this episode, Poison threatens the hostages he has held up before he has his meeting. We see the ‘King of the Liner’, boss of the ship Captain Terrier, and his daughter who are held up… but low and behold, there is also someone else who’s very special here…

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “BANG! KER-CHACK! Before talking to his gang, Poison chooses first to threaten his hostages, among them are Captain Terrier ‘King of the Liner and his daughter GRACEFUL Sophie. She is also the ship’s medic… But in Graceful’s tied up hands is someone special they have to protect. A little wolf girl and Boundhund’s unnamed child! Neither Dagger nor Boundhund know she even exists… However, they need to hurry if they hope to see her alive.”

I’m not going to speak much now after typing that all up, I need rest, but I do hope you enjoy. For any questions, please comment below. Thank you.

As usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Filthy”!

Inktober Saga Day 16

Hello as always! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Fat”. This is one I had a duty to do well on.

Day 16 Fat Rich Figured

Rich Figured: A proud “richly figured” Cadette strolling along with the shy character on her shoulders!

This is another one I have a personal relation to as you could say that I’m a “rich figured” lady myself… As well as this, I reckon the word “fat” can be a badly overused insult… and especially in this modern era, there is quite a lot of “fat bashing”. Something I’m very strongly against as I believe that whatever shape you are, big, small, or otherwise, you should be proud.

I know it’s a cheesy cliche, but why be fat when I can be rich figured…?

This is another one that takes inspiration from an earlier entry. Day 7 “Shy” to be precise. You can see that entry here:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/114481352387700669506/posts/Csr1JtZAcu1

For translation and clarity, the text in the artwork says: “No… I’m NOT FAT! I’M RICH FIGURED!” Written on the flag, it says “STRONG Day 16”.

Drawn with my lovely double ink gray/black pen, I drew the Cadette to be strong and dignified. Her weight is not an issue, and it doesn’t have to be. Her dignified outlook comes from within and that is the meaning of the piece. Don’t listen to anyone who wants to spout insulting nonsense. Embrace yourself for who you are.

On a side note, since the shy character from day 7 is a slight relation to the labelling trend, I have chosen to include him here as a link. Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 16 Fat

B2TL Day 16.

We now see what is currently happening on the liner from Kingpin Poison’s view. His loyal henchman the ‘blind assassin’ tells him of our heroes exploits.

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “Meanwhile, back on the Liner, Poison isn’t happy. He is about to learn of Dagger and Boundhund’s heroic victories. One of his henchmen known as the ‘blind assassin’ tells him what he himself has been told. Still determined to steal the FAT of the land, Poison goes back inside to call a small meeting and assert his authority…”

And the best scan of the month goes to…! Haha, this came out like a dream scan wise… though it’s a shame it took far longer to complete than I estimated… I would have finished this hours ago, but my mind was just far too slow in processing decisions, so I finished very late… much to my anger, frustration, and disappointment.

We’re now coming to a point where the words are harder to interpret into my story. This is the real challenge, but don’t worry! I have a book full of illegible scribbled ideas that only my knackered eyes can read! I only hope these badly written ideas help me through this…

I am definitely in need of having a lie in tomorrow to catch up on sleep… and I am also running out of my crucial eye drops… But I hope you like this and how it’s progressing!

Well, as usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Graceful”!

Inktober Saga Day 15

Hello as always! Here is my next Inktober instalment. Today’s word for this one was “Mysterious”. I didn’t do very well at all…

Day 15 Mysterious Dapper Mystery

Dapper Mystery: A mysterious, dapper man.

What can I say about this…? Firstly, I hate this piece. It’s just not something I’d be pleased with, but I have to accept all my entries warts and all. I suppose today’s word, “mysterious”, for me, was a very hard one to interpret. I had a few ideas about what I wanted to do, but just couldn’t settle on one, so I drew the short straw and did this…

Drawn using a pigment marker and my Uni Ball Air pen, I tried to embody the dark side of mystery. To me, something mysterious can be one of two things – either bad or good. Subjectively, both cases of delving into a mystery can be slightly scary as you try to explore and anticipate what’s behind the mask… Hence my choice of drawing.

Though I’ll repeat it again. I hate this entry. I only hope you don’t share the same dislike as I do.

Now…Time for my Back 2 The Liner story. See below.

B2TL Day 15 Mysterious

B2TL Day 15.

Dagger and Boundhund win the fight. The witch disappears into thin air, and peace is restored for a time. A mysterious letter also falls from where the witch disappeared.

For translation and clarity, the text reads: “KRTASH! WHOMP! The witch disappeared! Did she die…? It didn’t matter. The battle was finally over and the sky became normal again. But then suddenly, a MYSTERIOUS sheet of paper floated to the ground. Dagger picked it up. A dream come true! It contained secret information about where the Liner was headed! It was to dock at DOUBLET CITY HARBOUR. Without haste, Dagger and Boundhund head boldly to their destination.”

Forgive me for the fogginess of this episode, I don’t think my scanner likes me anymore. It seems to be making the bottom of my scans slightly blurry for some reason, but I’m bound to think it’s just teething problems and nothing more.

Anyway, the pair know where the Liner will be, so they’re now going to travel to the destination to attempt to take it back! Will they succeed in their mission? Well… only time will tell!

Well, as usual, I hope you enjoy my entries. See you next time for the next word “Fat”!
