Inktober Day 24: Evil Cunning

My interpretation for the 24th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Cunning’. A skeleton hatching an evil and cunning plan.

Sorry this is a day late… Again… (do I sound like a broken record? I feel like one…) It’s been hard to keep up, but I’m managing to do so! I can feel myself being able to do this (even if I am extremely knackered…) This is another Halloween inspired one since we’re coming up to the end of October now… It’s nice to sneak a couple in when I run out of ideas.

Day 24 Cunning Evil Cunning

Evil Cunning: Muahahaha!

The skeleton is hatching a cunning plan. I really like, and was inspired by, dark ink hatching in the middle of a characters face… which is a technique used in some comic or Halloween illustrations to increase drama, so thought it’d be nice to do my own original version and practice this technique. I hope you like it.

This was done using many different types of ink…. Time to play catch-up, I hope I can get today’s entry done sometime today…

Inktober Day 23: Moon Dancer

My interpretation for the 23rd word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Ray’. A wolf gracefully dancing in front of the moon and it’s rays

Sorry this is a day late… I was pleasantly surprised at how nicely this turned out. Obviously it isn’t perfect (but I don’t expect it to be)… there are flaws here and there, but the effects turned out quite well seeing as I ironically used dark colours to make the rays of the moon stand out even brighter.

Day 23 Ray Moon Dancer

Moon Dancer: Let’s Boogie!

This concept is pretty simple. A wolf dances in front of the moon… the “rays” relate to the word ray which was the prompt that this is supposed to match. Right… now time to try and catch up to today’s word… see you soon!

I did this using Faber Castell PITT pens (black, and Cold Grey IV) and white ink for highlights.

Inktober Day 22: Happy Copper

My interpretation for the 22nd word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Donut’. A copper (police officer) enjoying a sugary donut/doughnut.

I enjoyed doing this one, but when colouring in the “Day 22” doughnut, the pink ink smeared with the black, and my cold and evil black heart broke again…. I don’t think I allowed the black to dry enough before colouring it in… anyhow, this was remedied slightly with the usage of white ink to correct it.

Day 22 Donut Happy Copper

Happy Copper: Even the doughnut is smiling. Aww.

For the subject itself, I know there’s a stereotype about police officers eating doughnuts as a satirical comment on “sitting on the job”… so I decided to use that to inspire today’s entry since drawing just a plain old doughnut isn’t enough for me. This copper is “pigging” out on his doughnut (Geddit?) and hasn’t got a care in the world for the time being. Ahh…. the beautiful joy of ignorance.

This entry was completed using black star ink for outlines, an acrylic ink mixture for the pink colour, and white ink for highlights. Hope you all enjoy for now!

Inktober Day 21: Lustre Sweet

My interpretation for the 21st word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Lustre’. A serpentine monster licking a very shiny gobstopper/candy/sweet.

This one is another one I had high hopes for, but unfortunately, didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped. The sweet in this image isn’t reflective enough, I started off quite well, but I think I overcooked the colours, and it dulled it out.

Day 21 Lustre Lustre Sweet

Lustre Sweet: If only I could eat what I draw…

For “Lustre”, my idea was to have something very reflective and dazzling, but something that also appeals to the senses, which is why I came up with this… I think my mistakes came when my initial idea was clouded by how I’d actually draw it. I went in too thick with colour. The sweet was supposed to look the shiniest, but I think everything else I drew (especially the monsters tongue) competes with it.

I think if I had more time, I could have made this look better, but I suppose I have to let it be, it’s just one of those things.

Done using black ink, FB PITT pens, W&N Pigment Markers, and white ink for highlights. I hope you enjoy this entry, even if it wasn’t my best. Cheers all!

Inktober Day 20: Seed of Growth

My interpretation for the 20th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Seed’. A simple drawing of a seed shoot growing.

Day 20 Seed Seed of Growth

Seed of Growth: A sign of things to come

Hello again, everyone. With this entry, what you see is most definitely what you get. I’ve just done a stylised seed half buried in soil growing as I’ve been spending too much time on entries, so I needed to do a more simple idea to cut corners.

There is a hint of a message though. I was SO tempted to name this “Seed of Doubt” because I’m feeling a bit doubtful towards myself, but I named it Seed of Growth because I think this should be a time to grow my confidence.

This entry was done using black ink, lime green, raw umber and sand coloured acrylic ink for colour, FB PITT pens for depth, and white ink for highlights. Hope you all enjoy!

Inktober Day 19: Bristerhood Art

My interpretation for the 19th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Art’. A drawing of a bird drawing it’s surroundings.

I had a bit of fun with this one, although I must admit, I’m being very stupid (as usual) by creating entries that are more considerate and take up more time to draw. I’m now sacrificing sleep, and that’s not good, so I must get out of that habit, even if I have to force it.

Day 19 Art Bristerhood Art

Bristerhood Art: A mystical new world awaits.

Anyway, with this, I was inspired by two things: The power of camaraderie from my own Triwing “Bristerhood” (Brother and Sisterhood), and what art means to me when I’m not so stressed out. Art is magic, you can do whatever you want to do. You can even draw your own world just like the bird here is doing.

The bird itself represents the strength and smarts of my Triwing Art Challenge Club online community (Because our symbol is a bird). Honestly, I don’t mean to brag, but being surrounded by clever and creative people gives me great inspiration… and I’m lucky enough that it’s within my own online club… so this is a sort of tribute to them. Cheers Triwing!🐦

This was done using black star ink, various Inktense colours for the colourful cloudy night backdrop, and white ink for the stars and highlights. I hope you like this as always. Cheers all!

Inktober Day 18: Wake Up Call

My interpretation for the 18th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Anxious’. A skeleton who’s woken up with strong morning anxiety.

Firstly, yes… I know I’ve slipped behind again, but I can’t help that at the moment. Luckily, I’ve just scraped back into this though. Bear with me if there are irregular uploading patterns.

With this one, I was slightly cringing as I drew it because I came to a realisation I may have slightly doubled up on a word or concept that was used in a past Inktober prompt list… Anxious being similar to “Worried” from 2016. Ouch… that wasn’t intended, but oh well. Onwards and upwards.

Day 18 Anxious Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call: Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

This is about a skeleton waking up and having a load of anxiety hit him all at once. I was doing slightly well on this one, but when I came to adding the cyan coloured wash, the black ink started to bleed, and my even blacker heart began to break… It seems that the pen I was using is mistakenly described as “waterproof” when it isn’t. Frustratingly enough, I spent a lot of the time just correcting this flaming thing. 😕

This was done using said “waterproof” pen… along with an actual waterproof pen, white ink for corrections and highlights, and a colour wash of fluid acrylic ink. I hope you like it regardless of the mistakes…
