Inktober Day 31: Crystal To The End

My interpretation for the final word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Crystal’. Yep! It’s that gun happy girl again!

🎃Happy belated Halloween everyone!!🎃 Well, to those who celebrate it anyway. Sigh… Yes, I know this is really late… I get that this technically is over the October line now, but please give me a chance… I’ve been feeling so very tired, and have only gotten the opportunity to fully finish and upload this tonight. Sorry for that!

So the concept…. the prompt word for this day was “Crystal”, but instead of drawing a gem or perhaps a cracked LED screen, I decided to name my very first drawn character for this year’s Inktober, Crystal! Surprise!😂👍

Day 31 Crystal Crystal To The End

Crystal To The End: and even beyond!

I wanted to sneakily drop a hint about my #Birdmas drawing challenge in the text and with the 3 birds drawn in this entry (can you see them all?)

For Translation and Clarity the text in the image says: Hello there, I’m CRYSTAL. I featured in entries, 1 and 27. By day, I work in an office, by night, I proudly take on the hunt. I’ll be hunting me some BIRDS come December. Why don’t you come along? Feel free to join me!

I’ll say here, please come and join us, anyone who’s interested is invited if they really want to join. It’s going to be great fun if it was anything like last year. See the Triwing link below for details, or feel free to ask me about #Birdmas if you’re unsure.

Back to this, I named this piece “Crystal To The End” because she featured not only in my very last entry, but also, my very first! It’s a bittersweet goodbye to a challenge that gave me the fun opportunity to draw her (and also other things) in the first place.

Oh, and by the way, I did this using a brush pen, and a Posca pen liner. A lot of my pens are starting to misbehave…. perhaps I might get some new ones for Christmas…

Inktober Day 30: Ultra Bolt

My interpretation for the 30th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Lightning’. A simple lightning bolt design.

I’m not going to cover up my thoughts, this is possibly my worst entry, but at this stage, with having to catch up and also feeling so tired out, I’m not fussed.

Day 30 Lightning Ultra Bolt

Ultra Bolt: It is what it is!

To begin with, I was excited with this word… I had so many ideas to hand, but I didn’t want to do any of them because they take time I don’t have. Also, I have a really good idea for the last word “Crystal” and I want to conserve my energies into making my final entry of this 2018’s Inktober as good as possible. For now, this will have to do.

The entry was done using Derwent line painter pens, both used to hatch in and draw with, and as wet ink made into washes. Enjoy!

Inktober Day 29: Crow Blade

My interpretation for the 29th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Flutter’. A crow holding a cutlass whilst ‘fluttering’ in the air.

I’m on the catch up again. Now I’m really thankful that Inktober is coming to an end… I’m completely clutching at straws with any idea I come across now, so it’s nice at least to finally have this challenge finish.

Day 29 Flutter Crow Blade

Crow Blade: Sharp as a wing.

For this entry, I actually copied part of a previous design I did some time ago that featured a flying parrot in the same pose. I altered the pose and had it as a crow holding a cutlass sword to incorporate some imagination. I’m really struggling at getting any ideas, (or time to fulfil them for that matter) that I’ve resorted to whatever comes to mind first and foremost. That’s all there is to it.

This was done using FB PITT pens and a Derwent line painter pen for the blue. I hope you like it.

Inktober Day 28: Halloneon

My interpretation for the 28th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Neon’. A neon coloured zombie! (I bet you can tell I’m running out of ideas now can’t you…?)

Hello all… sorry for yet another late post… On top of everything else, I’m now getting the touch of an Autumnal flu-ish bug… Wonderful! But I’m plodding on and am sure it’ll pass.

Day 28 Neon Halloneon

Halloneon: Happy Halloneon! Muahaha.

Anyway, on to the more relevant agenda now – this entry. I had no idea how I’d even fulfil this word… until I realised that I could use my “if all fails, turn to Halloween” cheating method. So I decided to draw a zombie since they’re pretty popular Halloween related characters, but also, their skin colour can be strange looking and that sparked an idea. Of course, I could have gone with the very obvious Jack O Lantern glowing pumpkin, but I decided it’s best to play with my initial concept.

I called this entry “Halloneon”, a mixture of “Halloween” and the prompt word “Neon”. Overall, I had fun doing this, but I had to stop several times and come back to it… as a result, I became too fatigued to upload it until today.

This was done using many different inks, but predominantly acrylic ink as a base. I hope you like it. Have a nice fright! Muahahaha. 🎃

Inktober Day 27: Remember Me?

My interpretation for the 27th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Blaster’. The hunting woman from my very 1st entry holding a ‘blaster’ (gun).

Hello all! Firstly, I loved doing this entry. There are a couple of unintended errors I had to correct which was annoying… and I also slightly regret using hints of colour in this piece, but overall, I really had fun with this one.

Day 27 Blaster Remember Me

Remember Me?: You’re bound to sooner or later…

As soon as I saw the word “Blaster” I thought, what better than to bring back the same woman from “Day 1 Hunting” as she held a gun in that entry…? Enough said, there was nothing more to it. As soon as I got the time to do so, I got straight to work.

The text is rather ironic and plays on whether or not anyone remembers who she is since not everyone has seen my very 1st entry, and those who have are likely to forget it at this stage. Not everyone will know this character because of that…. (Sorry for the strange gap in text arrangement by the way, I tried to leave room for my logo, but it didn’t quite work… I ended up adding my logo in a corner instead).

But they will remember her now! After all, who doesn’t remember having a gun pointed at their face? 😂

For translation and clarity the text says “Oh, what’s that? You don’t REMEMBER ME? Well… You will Now!”

This was done using black, sepia, and sanguine coloured liners and brush pens. Again, in hindsight, I’m not sure it was wise to include colour, but I accept the way things are anyway. Hope you enjoy, all! Thanks for stopping by!

Inktober Day 26: Cooler Than Cotton

My interpretation for the 26th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Cotton’. A cartoon drawing of a sheep with a stem of cotton in it’s mouth, and a cotton-top monkey.

Yes… as promised, I’ve played it safe today with something more familiar and simple. This is a fun WYSIWYG drawing that includes a few cotton related devices to match the prompt, two of which are animals (A Sheep [Left] relating to wool which is close to cotton, and a species of monkey known as a “Cotton-Top Tamarin” [Right]) the third device is an actual cotton plant stem in the sheep’s mouth.

Day 26 Cotton Cooler than Cotton

Cooler than Cotton: Damn right.

…So why did I name this piece “Cooler than Cotton”? Because of the way the animals are of course… they’re just cool and casual, and why not, hm? 😉

I did the above entry using a single Faber Castell PITT black brush pen. On an added note, apart from the standard hatched inking, I used another technique here in parts known as “stippling”. For those that don’t know, stippling just means shading using dots. I wanted a more softer tone in this image, so I used that technique to try and achieve that… What do you think of it?

Inktober Day 25: Drench Out

My interpretation for the 25th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Drench’. A creature being overwhelmingly drenched.

…Now I really am a broken record it seems. With this one, I wanted to do something quick and experimental with some wet in wet techniques to compliment the theme word. I wanted it to work, but I’m not going to lie, I absolutely hate how it turned out, but… well… whilst I’m running on empty, I’m not expecting to do good all the time in this challenge.

Day 25 Drench Drench Out

Drench Out: A complete and utter experimental mess.

The concept is that the creature is so overwhelmed by a mysterious deluge, that it’s floor bound and can’t get up. I used Inktense, wet in wet for the swampy looking background, and Posca pens for the solid colour of the creature and it’s toy boat.

I perhaps went a bit too ambitious with how I hoped this would turn out, however, what I’m most shocked about is how the florescent orange coloured highlights (that I used to highlight the creature) scanned in as the same pure white as the rain.

In hindsight, I should be taking my own advice in not making things more complex then it has to be. I’m no longer going to try to be ambitious, I’m just going to aim for simple, but effective ideas to go on. Lesson learned!

…Hopefully. 😉

Ah well, I hope you enjoy anyway.
