St Davids Day Y Ddraig

I wanted to say happy St Davids Day with this rubbish unfinished red dragon. I had hopes for this, but I kept changing the design over and over, so I rushed the design I settled on. I wish my insecurity wouldn’t get the better of me so many times, but it is what it is.

Anyway, I hope everyone likes it. This was completed on A4 acrylic paper in mixed media.

⚠ Be My Zombie ⚠

⚠WARNING!⚠ THIS POST INCLUDES BLOOD AND GORE AND IS INTENDED TO BE TAKEN AS A JOKE. PLEASE BE ADVISED IN ADVANCE. THANK YOU.

It’s the 14th of February! Happy Halloween! 😂

I’m really not a fan of today so I decided to draw this zombie to spark some humour. Seeing that Smashy wanted to have a laugh too, I decided to include him in! He’s such a good sport. 🐿

I’m ever so sorry for not being around at all. A lot has been happening and I’ve been under quite a lot of stress too. I’m really hoping things improve for the better, but in the meantime, thanks for stopping by!

This was drawn using different kinds of ink on A4 Acrylic Paper.

Very Peri 2022 Water Tigress

Well, it’s been over a fortnight of embarrassing struggle just to get this done, but it’s finally finished. I’m not going to lie, I don’t like it, and I hate how slow this has taken me to complete, but I’m uploading it anyway just for the sake of doing so.

It’s my first of the year piece featuring the #yearofthetiger and pantone’s #VeryPeri 2022 colour of the year. Mixed Media on A4 black watercolour paper, I wanted to take a different approach to the subject, and carve out something striking on dark paper, that was my intention anyway.

It’s been depressing to draw this, but I hope you like it anyway. Time to try and move on.

Thanks for stopping by. Even though it’s a bit late, Happy New Year to everyone! 🥳

Chicken Takeover

The complete piece is done, though I must say, drawing this has been quite depressing and draining, and I’m not happy with it at all. 😔 I lost a lot of hope and spark as I was on my way to completing this, but I wanted to finish it anyway to get it out of the way. I’m glad that it’s complete now at least.

I’d say my biggest downfall was thinking I could do a big wash (in Inktense) and think it was easy to shade in all of the intricate parts without it being tedious. I loved this concept of mine to begin with, but in practice, it just didn’t feel right to do and my levels of stress just made me lose faith in the end.

With that, all competition pieces are done and I’ve entered the competition. Fingers crossed I get shortlisted, but I doubt it. In the meantime, I’ll just have to carry on with more important tasks. Hopefully I can fit in some creative training in between.

This piece was done using coloured and Inktense pencils on watercolour artboard measuring 27.6 x 37.6 cm and is my final drawing completed in 2021.

Takeover Chickens WIP 2

Sigh… Awful. I’m now really unhappy with where this is going, and I’m not even sure I can finish it I’m so out of confidence. Finishing these pieces is getting more and more of a challenge the more I go on.

I’m hyper aware of how wonky this is. Out of ideas, I’m just going to commit to this and hope for the best. 🤔😔

At the moment, this is pencil on Frisk Watercolour Artboard which is 15 x 11 inches (working in Landscape format).

It’s The Little Things!

Phew… I am actually surprised I managed to get this done within needed time, given the extra week I spent trying to correct this monstrosity! I completed this yesterday (15th December) but only had the time to upload it today.

Now it’s only the city chickens piece left, with some chance that I won’t get that complete at all by deadline – I’m slightly worried.

Overall, I’m moderately happy with this – or at least, moderately happy enough not to change it all over again. I think I got the intended effects right. I know I’d tweak things again even at this stage, (for example, the darks could be A LOT darker) but there has to come a time where I shout at myself through a megaphone “NO! STOP! PUT THE DAMN PENCILS DOWN AND STEP AWAY FROM THE DESK!” 😂

So the title is called “It’s The Little Things” since this piece revolves around the story that this steampunk tiger (Who is a “he” I’ve decided) is locked up in a cage. Although the situation is bad, he still has his little treasure trinket box that’s special enough to glow and give him hope to find his way out. The treasure box is the little thing that counts!

Completed on A4 Bristol Board using coloured pencils.

Screw Up

I think I screwed up my Tiger and I’m fuming. 🤦 Right now it’s still a WIP, but I took a look at the rough I did and realised the arm should’ve been in a different position compositionally and that there’s supposed to be a larger gap for the darkness to dominate. Examining this – I feel that the proportions are off – the neck of the tiger also was supposed to take up a larger space with the shoulders not being arched forward. A silly schoolgirl error, I went off-piste and committed to quickly into colouring this.

…I hate not feeling myself whilst doing this, but under stress and pressure, I guess that’s what I’ll get.

Here’s the WIP in it’s very rough stage…
And here it is in it’s current stage.

I’ve posted my first WIP stage here again along with my current WIP stage. There is a strong chance this will be started off from scratch, and even flip mirrored before colouring. If it is flipped, the arm will then become the Tiger’s right rather than it’s left.

This was drawn in coloured pencils on A4 Bristol Board for the Derwent Art Drawing Prize competition. And it looks like I’ll be doing it again. What fun… 😔

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Happy St Andrews Day! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Now, I’m, not Scottish myself, but since I’m from the UK, I’d like to say Happy St Andrews today to anyone who celebrates it! It’s a bit late, but today is still the 30th of November, so it defo counts.

I’m not the best at drawing horse like creatures, but I drew this flying (Pegasus?) Unicorn since the Unicorn is the national animal of Scotland. Hope you all like it.

Chicken Takeover WIP

So this is my 2nd #WIP I’m working on, and I must say I’m doubting myself a lot over what I’m working on at the moment. That’s partly the reason for my latest absence – it’s been tough, and I’ve been losing faith and patience. My situation at the moment is really tough, so working my way fully out of my block has been rather difficult, but I refuse to give up at the moment.

In this piece, I’m planning to have some chickens run all over town with, hopefully, some people in the background too. It’ll look chaotic, and, if I can fix it all, the perspective should be one to draw in the eye too. Right now, I see LOADS of errors, and it’s been tough trying to address them all on my current level of energy, but I’m trying.

It’s the Little Things WIP

This is something that I want to complete, but that I’m not confident on at all. I don’t want to slip back into my horrible one-sided block! 😰 This needs tweaking and I know it, but I just don’t know how to yet.

For the avoidence of doubt, it’s a steampunk tiger (without the stripes at the moment) holding a tiny little treasure chest. The message is that it’s the little things that count at the moment, and that’s what we need to focus on.

Speaking of focus, I want to make that the focus of this piece, so the Tiger his/her self will be pushed back for effect, but still visible.

It’s something… but I’ll work on it. Thanks to everyone for stopping by!
