Inktober Day 21: Lustre Sweet

My interpretation for the 21st word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Lustre’. A serpentine monster licking a very shiny gobstopper/candy/sweet.

This one is another one I had high hopes for, but unfortunately, didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped. The sweet in this image isn’t reflective enough, I started off quite well, but I think I overcooked the colours, and it dulled it out.

Day 21 Lustre Lustre Sweet

Lustre Sweet: If only I could eat what I draw…

For “Lustre”, my idea was to have something very reflective and dazzling, but something that also appeals to the senses, which is why I came up with this… I think my mistakes came when my initial idea was clouded by how I’d actually draw it. I went in too thick with colour. The sweet was supposed to look the shiniest, but I think everything else I drew (especially the monsters tongue) competes with it.

I think if I had more time, I could have made this look better, but I suppose I have to let it be, it’s just one of those things.

Done using black ink, FB PITT pens, W&N Pigment Markers, and white ink for highlights. I hope you enjoy this entry, even if it wasn’t my best. Cheers all!

Inktober Day 20: Seed of Growth

My interpretation for the 20th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Seed’. A simple drawing of a seed shoot growing.

Day 20 Seed Seed of Growth

Seed of Growth: A sign of things to come

Hello again, everyone. With this entry, what you see is most definitely what you get. I’ve just done a stylised seed half buried in soil growing as I’ve been spending too much time on entries, so I needed to do a more simple idea to cut corners.

There is a hint of a message though. I was SO tempted to name this “Seed of Doubt” because I’m feeling a bit doubtful towards myself, but I named it Seed of Growth because I think this should be a time to grow my confidence.

This entry was done using black ink, lime green, raw umber and sand coloured acrylic ink for colour, FB PITT pens for depth, and white ink for highlights. Hope you all enjoy!

Inktober Day 19: Bristerhood Art

My interpretation for the 19th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Art’. A drawing of a bird drawing it’s surroundings.

I had a bit of fun with this one, although I must admit, I’m being very stupid (as usual) by creating entries that are more considerate and take up more time to draw. I’m now sacrificing sleep, and that’s not good, so I must get out of that habit, even if I have to force it.

Day 19 Art Bristerhood Art

Bristerhood Art: A mystical new world awaits.

Anyway, with this, I was inspired by two things: The power of camaraderie from my own Triwing “Bristerhood” (Brother and Sisterhood), and what art means to me when I’m not so stressed out. Art is magic, you can do whatever you want to do. You can even draw your own world just like the bird here is doing.

The bird itself represents the strength and smarts of my Triwing Art Challenge Club online community (Because our symbol is a bird). Honestly, I don’t mean to brag, but being surrounded by clever and creative people gives me great inspiration… and I’m lucky enough that it’s within my own online club… so this is a sort of tribute to them. Cheers Triwing!🐦

This was done using black star ink, various Inktense colours for the colourful cloudy night backdrop, and white ink for the stars and highlights. I hope you like this as always. Cheers all!

Inktober Day 18: Wake Up Call

My interpretation for the 18th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Anxious’. A skeleton who’s woken up with strong morning anxiety.

Firstly, yes… I know I’ve slipped behind again, but I can’t help that at the moment. Luckily, I’ve just scraped back into this though. Bear with me if there are irregular uploading patterns.

With this one, I was slightly cringing as I drew it because I came to a realisation I may have slightly doubled up on a word or concept that was used in a past Inktober prompt list… Anxious being similar to “Worried” from 2016. Ouch… that wasn’t intended, but oh well. Onwards and upwards.

Day 18 Anxious Wake Up Call

Wake Up Call: Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

This is about a skeleton waking up and having a load of anxiety hit him all at once. I was doing slightly well on this one, but when I came to adding the cyan coloured wash, the black ink started to bleed, and my even blacker heart began to break… It seems that the pen I was using is mistakenly described as “waterproof” when it isn’t. Frustratingly enough, I spent a lot of the time just correcting this flaming thing. πŸ˜•

This was done using said “waterproof” pen… along with an actual waterproof pen, white ink for corrections and highlights, and a colour wash of fluid acrylic ink. I hope you like it regardless of the mistakes…

Inktober Day 17: Almighty Mouse

My interpretation for the 17th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Almighty’. A small, but litteral play on concept… (yes… it’s a mouse! I know!)

FINALLY I’m up to speed! Well, just about… and as I’m just beginning to count the amount of new gray hairs on my head(!), I realise… it’s now the 17th/18th of October… I still feel like it’s the 1st! πŸ˜•

Ah… Anyway, for this prompt, I wanted to break the boundary, because “Almighty” is a limited word meaning over-powerful or godly, so why not play with it? I’ve heard of “mighty mouse” somewhere, I don’t know where, but when it sprang to mind, I instantly thought I’d do something like this.

Day 17 Almighty Almighty Mouse

Almighty Mouse: The world waits for no mouse!

The mouse has the world in it’s hands whilst it skates on it’s skateboard… it’s risky, because having the world in your hands is a big and powerful responsibility on it’s own, let alone having it whilst going so fast…. lets hope the power doesn’t get to the mouse’s head too much that the world gets dropped!

I did this using a black brush pen and a Faber Castell PITT gray brush pen for added depth. Yes, not all the speed lines are done… but oooh! I’m tired and I don’t have time! Isn’t that a surprise? πŸ˜‰

Inktober Day 16: Brown And Nearly Out

My interpretation for the 16th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Brown’. Yet another emotional cliche of how I feel.

For this one, I was inspired by people’s thoughts on my previous entries! A few people have cleverly pointed out some unintentional hidden messages in my work, so for this one… I went fully intentional with messages. You wanted cryptic? You’ve got cryptic.

(By the way, yes… I know it’s crooked… but who cares?? So am I!)

Day 16 Brown Brown And Nearly Out

Brown and Nearly Out: Ah well, at least my face isn’t purple!

There is a wolf mount in this and it represents…Actually, I’m not going to say anything about this subject! Haha! For those who think they’re clever enough, I’ll let you all wonder what the title, and the piece itself means. Why should I spoil the fun? πŸ˜‰

For Translation and Clarity the writing in this entry says: SORRY I’m not available at the moment, I’m FAR too tired. In the MEANTIME, until it becomes 1999 again, please leave a message AFTER the beep.

I do hope you like this entry, and now I’m going to work on the current word! Hopefully I should get that done today… wish me luck!

Inktober Day 14 and Day 15: Hop Skip And Box and Monkey Rage

My interpretations for the 14th and 15th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Hop’ and ‘Monkey’ respectively. A kangaroo hopping in a boxing gym, and a monkey that’s screaming with rage.

Yes… I’ve been playing catch-up and have still yet to be up to speed. I haven’t got time to fully explain these days. I thought I’d upload them together to make things easier. See both drawings below.

Day 14 Hop Hop Skip And Box

Hop Skip And Box: This is nothing special other than a fun ink drawing to make things a bit easier for me, since I don’t seem to have time on my side. Done using a black brush pen and white ink for corrections.

Day 15 Monkey Monkey Rage

Monkey Rage: I was excited for this word, but unfortunately, this didn’t come out as well as I had planned. Also, I used Biro, which isn’t lightfast, so let’s say this isn’t ‘light friendly’… I wanted to do this red and blue, but could only find pink instead of red.

Thanks for stopping by to see my entries. I’m not so confident in these ones, but that’s what Inktober is there for. Just for practice. It’s ok to make mistakes… isn’t it?
