Inktober Day 25: Drench Out

My interpretation for the 25th word of my Tritober prompt list for Inktober 2018, ‘Drench’. A creature being overwhelmingly drenched.

…Now I really am a broken record it seems. With this one, I wanted to do something quick and experimental with some wet in wet techniques to compliment the theme word. I wanted it to work, but I’m not going to lie, I absolutely hate how it turned out, but… well… whilst I’m running on empty, I’m not expecting to do good all the time in this challenge.

Day 25 Drench Drench Out

Drench Out: A complete and utter experimental mess.

The concept is that the creature is so overwhelmed by a mysterious deluge, that it’s floor bound and can’t get up. I used Inktense, wet in wet for the swampy looking background, and Posca pens for the solid colour of the creature and it’s toy boat.

I perhaps went a bit too ambitious with how I hoped this would turn out, however, what I’m most shocked about is how the florescent orange coloured highlights (that I used to highlight the creature) scanned in as the same pure white as the rain.

In hindsight, I should be taking my own advice in not making things more complex then it has to be. I’m no longer going to try to be ambitious, I’m just going to aim for simple, but effective ideas to go on. Lesson learned!

…Hopefully. 😉

Ah well, I hope you enjoy anyway.
